Episode Transcript:

Hi Everyone, Welcome to the Mindful Weight Loss Podcast. This week's episode is a little different. Instead of my usual talk, I've decided to share a short meditation with you and I hope you enjoy it.

~

When we want to lose weight, our motivation often comes from the thought that we aren't good enough as we are. We then put pressure on ourselves to change, but rather than enabling us to grow, that pressure causes us to constrict.

When we judge ourselves negatively we cut ourselves off from our power and possibility.

And so this meditation is meant to remind you that you are enough just as you are.

Let's begin by taking a few deep breaths.

And with each breath allow your body and mind to soften.

Allow yourself to let go and relax.

And allow a sense of peace to wash over you.

Feel it radiate from your heart all the way to the top of your head, out into your shoulders and arms and into your fingertips, and feel it fall down into your stomach, and pelvis and down through your legs, through to your feet and reaching the very tips of your toes.

And notice here that you don't need to control or pay attention to your breath. Your body breathes without any effort from you.

So to the sensations you feel in your body, you don't need to try to feel. Your body simply feels.

And you don't need to try to hear the sound of my voice. Your ears simply hear.

There is nothing you need to do to exist in your body.

There is no need for effort.

There are no responsibilities.

There are no needs.

You are free to simply allow, receive, and then let go.

Notice how easily you do this with each breath.

You allow it to fill your body. You receive the breath.

And then you exhale and let go so you can make way for the next breath.

Our relationship to our breath is a beautiful, constant reminder of how we can best interact with the experiences in our lives.

With each experience, each moment, we can allow, receive and then let go to make way for the next moment.

And we see that each moment is fresh and new. Every moment we are renewed and reborn again.

And there is no need to hold on to any experience, any story, any of your possessions, or even your identity.

None of that is required in your experience.

None of that is required for you to be worthy.

You are worthy simply because you exist.

You are here, you are breathing, and so the universe or the God of your understanding has deemed that you are enough.

You are a being in the world and your individual experience of life is precious and sacred.

And you don't have to attempt to control, force, or micromanage any of it.

It is enough to simply be.

To allow, receive and let go.

And let life flow through you just like your breath.

Notice again the sensations in your body.

Notice how good it feels to relax and simply allow your experience.

As you come back now to the present moment, take a deep breath and begin to stretch your muscles.

Feel yourself becoming more energized yet still relaxed.

And when you feel ready, open your eyes.

And as you take in your surroundings and your eyes move around the room, simply allow each visual into your experience, receive it and then let it go.

There's no need to create meaning or judgements about anything you see.

And make an intention to bring that state of mind into the remainder of your day.

You don't need to create, control or do anything to improve your experience of life.

Simply allow, receive and let go.

~

Hey there, I hope you are feeling more calm, relaxed and at ease after listening to that. And please let me know if this is something you'd like to see more of. I may add more meditations like this to our weekly lineup, but we will be back to our regularly scheduled programming next week. Take care and I'll see you then.
